The village of Kilmainham is about 30 minutes walk from Handel’s Hotel and is home to several places of interest. Historic Kilmainham Gaol, where 14 of those involved in the Easter Rising of 1916 were executed. The Royal Hospital Kilmainham, with its wonderful surrounding park, is home to The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). Not far away, on the banks of the River Liffey at Islandbridge, is the idyllic Irish National War Memorial Gardens.
